The sound workshop in which we were introduced to the Adobe Audition software was the least interesting one for me. The workshop itself was well done and Andy Banks did a good job of showing us common audio task of non-destructive and destructive editing, but my personal interest in audio and sound is just not as high as my interest in visual media.
In the beginning, Andy explained the differences between different audio formats and bit rates and advised us to work with wav-files if possible – they offer the most control over the editing features.
The software itself confused me a lot. I have no understanding of any audio related issues and was overstrained with the numerous functions within the programme. I found it less intuitive to operate than Premiere or Photoshop and was not able to translate most of the technical terms. We were given the task to remove unwanted sounds and noise from audio clips and I was only able to manage that task with personal assistance from Andy.
All in all the workshop was not as fascinating for me as the previous ones and I have to admit that I probably learned the least. But I think that was directly dependent from my lack of interest in sound topics, even though I tried my best to understand and work with Adobe Audition.
