About this blog

I started the module MEDI512 Experiment without any experience in Digital Cinematics, Animation, Sound, Portable Lighting or Photochemical Experiments. As a German exchange student, I was free to choose any module in the Media Arts course and because this module sounded like the perfect opportunity to explore a variety of media, I decided to enrol in it. I was eager to deepen my skills and my knowledge regarding all those different techniques. This module promised a creative and individual approach and experimental practice, far away from all the purely theoretical work I am used to in my home university in Germany.

In this blog I want to reflect my own theoretical and practical work during the workshops and describe my approach for my project for the Illuminate 2019 festival, from the first ideas to the final animation. I wrote this blog throughout the semester and tried to work on it continuously. I will also include the work of inspirational artists, look at some of their videos, photos or installations and explain why I like them so much.

At the menu bar you can choose between the different categories of my blog posts (I divided them into Media Theory, Media Practice, Inspiration and articles relating to the Illuminate festival) or you can chronologically read them on the home page. Enjoy!
